General Requirements & Attestation

IMPORTANT - General Requirements

Please read these requirements carefully before submitting:

  • Authorship is restricted to society members.
  • All manuscripts must be original work that has not been previously published.
  • All referenced works must be cited in APA format. Authors may include figures, graphs, tables, and photographs as needed. Each visual element should be numbered sequentially with a descriptive caption, be referenced within the manuscript text following standard scientific paper conventions.
  • Research data and code must be made available upon reasonable request unless there are legitimate privacy or ethical concerns which prevent sharing.
  • Adult co-authors are not permitted. You may write about research conducted with an adult mentor, but all writing should be your own. Collaborative authorship between multiple teen researchers is permitted.
  • We reserve the right to reject submitted manuscripts for any reason. Common reasons for rejection will be failure to meet reasonable standards of scientific rigor, poor quality of writing, or evidence of plagiarism. While AI tools may be used for editing or brainstorming, submitted work that appears to be primarily AI-generated will be rejected. Prospective authors will be notified of our decision and the reason for rejection in a timely manner.
  • We may at times recommend some minor revisions before publication (e.g. the fixing of typos, trimming of length). Publication will not proceed until revisions have been made to our satisfaction.

  • Paraphrasing the work of others without acknowledging the source
  • Using unauthorized notes/books/other reference materials during the creation of this article

Furthermore, I confirm that I have not used any artificial intelligence tools/software in the writing of this manuscript (use of tools for brainstorming/editing is permitted).
